Unikom Linux Week 2010

It’s here! The long awaited Linux user events in our beloved Bandung! So what is this Unikom Linux Week (or ULW)? It’s series of events at my university that take place about a week for all Linux lover to joy! For this year the events started from 8th February to 17th February. Most of the events for this year are about workshop, such as our proven successful at 11.2 release party’s OpenOffice.org and Blender workshop.

How to make your own openSUSE – Part I

Surely you have heard about SUSE Studio. It is on-line service that allow you to build your own taste of openSUSE distribution.

Now, let’s try to make our version of openSUSE. When installing openSUSE, we usually choose DVD as our media install, since it is packaged with a lot more applications than the CD. But not all applications on the DVD we install right into the computer. We of course only install applications that we think we will require.

November 1st!

This day I’m officially 22 years old. 22 years I have breathing on this earth. Reminds me that my quota has just decreased by one year.

Test the RC with your USB stick

How I’m supposed to upload anything – like screen-shot images – with this crappy traffic? Seem’s like everyone goes out to the net this Saturday night.

By the way, if you already download the RC ISO and can’t find any blank CD to burn, but you have USB stick lying around, you can use that to boot the RC. Continued…

No graphics after kernel upgrade?

Some of you may have experience this. It working fine last night, and then when you boot it this morning, it stopped at command line login. Reason? There are many possibility, one of them is if you have updated your kernel and forget to re-compile the vga module for the new kernel, the X-server will simply stop. Solution? You just need to re-compile the module for the new kernel. Continued…
